Andrei Baciu is a Member of the Romanian Parliament and Vice-President of the Committee on Defense, Public Order and National Security, and the initiator of Romania’s Parliamentary Commission on Artificial Intelligence. With a background in cardiovascular surgery and international relations, he focuses on AI governance, digital resilience, and the integration of emerging technologies in public administration. He previously served as Secretary of State at the Romanian Ministry of Health and later as President of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), the institution responsible for managing Romania’s national healthcare budget and insurance system.
