Asbjørn Overgaard has held the position as CEO of Copenhagen Capacity since June 2020. He is at the forefront of attracting and retaining international companies, investors and talents, with the aim of creating growth and development in Greater Copenhagen and Denmark. Today he is heading the not-for-profit foundation of 40 employees of 15 nationalities, as well as representing the organisation in the board of the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassadors. Throughout his career, Asbjørn has experience from both private companies and public organizations, preferably with being close to the political decision-making process. A career that has taken him around the world, where he has lived and worked in the U.K., Kazakhstan, Dubai, Hong Kong and Bangkok. Before joining Copenhagen Capacity, he held positions as Director at the industry organisation Danish Shipping, a number of positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, e.g. Deputy Director of Invest in Denmark, heading the Danish Innovation Centres, Commercial Counsellor at the Danish Embassy in Bangkok and Private Secretary the Minister for Trade and Investments. Earlier in his career, Asbjørn held positions within sales and marketing in private Danish companies acting internationally. In addition, Asbjørn has experience in establishing two start-up companies. Asbjørn holds a business degree with a speciality in Innovation & Entrepreneurship and has continuously supplemented with courses and continuing education in innovation, management and leadership.
