Athanasios Potsis was born in April 1974 in the city of Mainz, Germany.
Athanasios Potsis is a qualified Electrical Engineer, while in 2002 he was awarded a PhD by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. The entire research work for his doctoral dissertation was carried out at the facilities of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich and was funded through a scholarship by AIRBUS.
His research activity includes more than 20 scientific publications in international scientific journals and proceedings of international conferences, as well as a number of scientific publications by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in the field of digital signal processing for radar systems.
From 1998 to 2002, he worked as a scientific associate at AIRBUS Defense on new technology issues in the aerospace sector. From September 2003 to September 2006, he worked at the General Directorate of Defense Programs of Intracom Defense Electronics (IDE).
From September 2006 to September 2025, he worked at the European Finance Aerospace Group (EFA Group), where he was responsible for strategic investments and international industrial collaborations in the aerospace sector, both in Greece and, primarily, at an international level, including Japan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Canada, etc.
Since 2006, he has been teaching Defense Industry and Strategic Surveillance Systems at the Hellenic Air Force War College.
Since 2008, he has been President of the Hellenic Association of Space Technology and Applications Industries (HASI).
Since 2013, he has been a member of the Coordinating Council of the first Greek cluster of space technology and applications (si-Cluster).
Since 2020, he has participated in the Board of Directors of the ESA Business Incubator Center (ESA-BIC) in Greece, with the aim of promoting start-up companies active in space technology.
Since October 2025, he has assumed the position of Head of Business Development at M-Technologies of METLEN Energy & Metals and is involved in the development of business activities and strategy for the METLEN Group in the Defense & Security sector.
