Lefteris Kastanakis has a long-standing and multifaceted career in the administration and coordination of municipal services and environmental projects, while also possessing significant experience in the private sector. His professional path in Local Government began in 1994 at the Municipality of Amarousio, where he initially served as Secretary-General and later as Deputy Mayor. From 2011 to 2019, he served as Director of the Mayor’s Office of Athens and subsequently as Secretary-General of the Municipality of Athens. From 2020 to 2022, he served as Secretary-General of the Municipality of Haidari, and since January 2024, he has held the position of Secretary-General at the Municipality of Zacharo. In his professional career in the private sector, he worked as a business consultant, providing services in organization, management, and environmental management. He has undertaken executive and managerial roles in significant projects, both in Greece and abroad, such as the organization and operation of the source separation system for recyclable materials in the Republic of Cyprus; the design, organization, and supervision of the implementation of the project “Cleaning and Waste Management of the Facilities of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Athens 2004”; the design and implementation of communication strategy for Environmental Services; and the coordination support for the bid for the Waste Management project of the State of Qatar. His experience and knowledge make him an outstanding professional in the field of Local Government and Environmental Services. Lefteris Kastanakis is a graduate of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and holds a postgraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of the Aegean.
