Stavros Asthenidis

Chief Executive Officer of Information Society SA | ICT Programmes & Digital Governance Leader | Public Policy & Large-Scale Project Management Expert

Stavros Asthenidis leads Information Society SA as Chief Executive Officer, the government agency under the Ministry of Digital Governance entrusted with coordinating Greece’s most ambitious ICT programmes and the landmark projects redefining how the state serves its citizens, since 2019. He holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a Master’s in Public Policy and Public Management from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Asthenidis brings decades of experience at the intersection of technology, public policy, and large-scale project management. He has served as Head of State Aid Schemes at Intermediate Management Agencies (Elanet, EFEPAE) across the 2nd and 3rd Community Support Framework periods, and as Telecommunications Manager at the Technology Control Center during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games – a role he assumed after leading the telecommunications networks planning during the preparation phase. His career spans senior positions across the public and private sectors, including Project Officer at Information Society SA across domains such as Intelligent Transport Systems, Digital Culture, Digital Health, and Energy Saving Systems; Program Manager for international telecommunications projects at Cramoni Trading Ltd (Cyprus); and senior consulting roles at Egnatia Odos SA, ICAP Business Consultants, and the Ministry of Development and Competitiveness. He has also advised the Special Secretary for Digital Planning on eGovernment strategy and the Special Secretary for Public-Private Partnerships on infrastructure programmes. From April 2017 to July 2019, he served as Chief Executive Officer of DAEM SA, the City of Athens IT Company.
